Industry configuration

Choosing an industry tunes the greeting, vocabulary, intake questions, and tools your receptionist uses — here is what each profile changes.

What the industry setting does

Your industry selection (made in onboarding, changeable in Receptionist settings) applies a tuned profile on top of the base receptionist: how it greets, the intake questions it asks, the vocabulary it uses, and which tools it is allowed to operate. Profiles ship for dental practices, restaurants, and real estate; every other selection uses the general business profile, which is fully capable and un-specialized.

What changes per profile

  • Dental — appointment-first intake: caller name, reason for visit, preferred time, callback number. Intake is deliberately minimal: the receptionist does not collect date of birth or insurance details over the phone.
  • Restaurant — reservation and hours questions handled directly; party size and time captured for bookings.
  • Real estate — caller intent (buying, selling, renting), property of interest, and preferred showing times.
  • General business — balanced intake for any service business: reason for calling, contact details, urgency, and next step.

Tools follow the industry

Profiles also gate which tools the assistant can use. A dental receptionist gets booking and message tools but not, say, facility device controls; a facilities tenant with that capability keeps it. This keeps each assistant’s abilities matched to the business it answers for.

Changing industry later

You can change the industry at any time; your assistant re-syncs automatically. Custom greeting text you have written is preserved — the profile changes the defaults underneath it.
